DAVID CROWLEY FOR CONGRESS

BIOGRAPHY

David Crowley was born in Summit, New Jersey on Thanksgiving Day (November 27)
in 1957. He was born, coincidently, in the same room as his mother had been born.
His formative years were spent in Westfield, NJ and in Rumson, NJ. He attended Dean
Porter Elementary and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. His middle school
years were spent at Carson Long Military Academy.

Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Army for a three year hitch, where his
attention to details eventually placed him as a supply clerk stationed at Fort Ord (long
before its closure by a Democratic Congress). After his time in service was ended, he
headed south to Los Angeles, where he wanted to be.

The next few years were hard ones, filled with lessons in the school of life. He lived as a
homeless person, occasionally finding work of one type or another. He attended Los
Angeles City College briefly, but was doing poor academically when he finally started
working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as a stock clerk/mail person. From this position
David was able to start on the long road of improving his life.

He eventually lost this job due to corporate downsizing. It would take nearly two years
before he would find another job, first as a telephoner asking people their reactions to
forthcoming movies and later as a person who "coded" those responses.

It was shortly before this second job began that he married Juana, his wife now of almost
14 years. Born and raised in the Philippines, she became a naturalized cirizen in 2000.
She works as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at two local convalescent
facilities. They have a son, David Crowley, III, who will turn 7 this year. He attends a
private school because his father doesn't trust LAUSD to get its act together.

David would eventually lose this second job as well. Deciding that he had had enough of,
essentially, dead end and low-paying (read starvation wages) jobs, he decided to go back
and finish college. He returned to Los Angeles City College and returned to his major of
Cinema Production. It's Los Angeles, what did you ecpect?  :-)

For various reasons, most of them having to do with his lackluster previous studies, he was
denied financial aid beyond a Governor's Waiver of Enrollment Fees. He also had past the
time available to him to get VA benefits for schooling, something he believes should be a
lifetime benefit to every veteran until it's used up.

He is currently about 5 classes away from graduating from Los Angeles City College.
