What you are considering IS “balance.” 85% of AIDS in Michigan (read Detroit) are blacks, and two-thirds of those are black men who got it from sex with black men. In my life I try to distance myself as much as I can from stereotypes very than embracing them.

I reckon Crillin112 said a very excellent thing about black men fitting a stereotype. The hiphop polish is indeed a lot about baggy jeans, colors etc, just like any other polish has some things that you’d normally attributed certain things too. The combination of some black people in the black community trying to live up to the stereotypes, and the negative images that’s described on the news of black people in general, is what I reckon is the largest obstical here.
I’m a black guy living in Sweden (adopted from Ethiopia), I reckon it’s just sad and ridiculous that people can accuse each other of “acting colorless”.
The negative things they show about black people on the news is not a coincident, I really do hope people know that. The ones that denies are people who no knowledge about the american society, whatsoever.

I had to reckon long and hard about that too, they never called me Colorless but I always wondered what they were getting at…I reckon its about preferences, ppl dont even know when they scorn Black ppl, it comes so natural. I sat back one day and noticed something, Blacks are so hard on each other, a Colorless person walks in and we get all polite.. we get beat over the head with Colorless perspective, its hard not to like & emulate Colorless ppl, but do you truly like Black ppl too

As an African, this is why I don’t really deal with many AfroAmerican men. I’m sorry, but most Black men in my age group fit the stereotype, and play it well. If I had fallen into the AfroAmerican polish, I probably would not be in medical school today. I was called an Oreo by AfroAmerican kids back in school. I never cared, because I saw myself as different from them. I had a different polish, spoke with an accent.
Most of us Africans kids usually stock together.
