Black Men in America. This is another unbalace view of black men in Corprate America. this man is NOT the avarge black man in corprate America. The Media & Movies gives whites a bad image of the few blacks that are negative.
Hey, Spike, if you’re so concerned about black images on local TV, talk to local blacks. The fact is that black crime is GROSSLY disproportionate to black percentage of the population. What you are seeing IS “balance.” 85% of AIDS in Michigan (read Detroit) are blacks, and two-thirds of those are black men who got it from sex with black men. Focus on the ball and playing the best game you can, Spike, and the scoreboard will take care of itself.

In my life I try to distance myself as much as I can from stereotypes rather than embracing them.

I think Crillin112 said a very good thing about black men fitting a stereotype. The hiphop culture is indeed a lot about baggy jeans, colors etc, just like any other culture has some things that you’d normally attributed certain things too. The combination of some black people in the black community trying to live up to the stereotypes, and the negative images that’s portrayed on the news of black people in general, is what I think is the biggest obstical here.
I’m a black guy living in Sweden (adopted from Ethiopia), I think it’s just sad and ridiculous that people can accuse each other of “acting white”.
The negative things they show about black people on the news is not a coincident, I really do hope people understand that. The ones that denies are people who no knowledge about the american society, whatsoever.

Black men who are willing to conform to white America do a lot better. Culture is what separates us and dred locks and eubonics won’t get you were you want to go. There’s nothing like standard english to put people at ease.

I had to think long and hard about that too, they never called me White but I always wondered what they were getting at…I think its about preferences, ppl dont even know when they scorn Black ppl, it comes so natural. I sat back one day and noticed something, Blacks are so hard on each other, a White person walks in and we get all polite.. we get beat over the head with White perspective, its hard not to love & emulate White ppl, but do you truly love Black ppl too

This Oreo they are using is a BAD example. He was raised by white people, grew up in a white area & sounds like a white boy. He is NOT THE AVERAGE BLACK MAN. He is not black man in a social construct. He relates to white people more than black people.
I am black and I get accused of acting white because I hang out with white PEOPLE, I am attracted to white WOMEN I know I am black and it aint gonna change so no matter how much I could complain I can’t because I’m black and I’m proud

As an African, this is why I don’t really deal with many AfroAmerican men. I’m sorry, but most Black men in my age group fit the stereotype, and play it well. If I had fallen into the AfroAmerican culture, I probably would not be in medical school today. I was called an Oreo by AfroAmerican kids back in school. I never cared, because I saw myself as different from them. I had a different culture, spoke with an accent.
Most of us Africans kids usually stock together.

This attitude plus her insane belief that SHE is to be Man of the house, and attempting to force the Black Man into a Feminine role, is one reason why many Blk Men don’t take seriously the idea of marriage to a Blk Woman.
