Selecting the Best Instructor

Discovering the best guitar teacher is subjective to the student’s interest in music approach and welfare.  The students have to assess the style of music they are fascinated in to first narrow down their search for an teacher.  The next step is to locate a school that fits the musical style of interest.  Once the school has been selected, researching the trainer’s qualifications by utilizing the Web and reputation can help you reduce your search.

Service and teacher credentials should be the two biggest factors in narrowing down your trainer search. As with most professions, customer service is an integral part of any instructor’s reputation.  If the instructor is not timely with e-mail responses, seems laxidaisical in speech and seems aloof in the initial meeting, then you may want to choose another teacher.  Lessons should be an pleasant and hold your interest. If the trainer does not hold your interest on first intuitions, it is time to get going with your search.

Another great thing to find the best teacher is through discussing instructors with friends and family who have taken guitar courses, which can be tied to service and reputation. Their opinions, advice and dislikes about their previous instructors can help reduce your search. To further narrow down your choices, it is good to study the credentials of the trainers of your choice.

The Internet is an extremely effective instrument in helping you find the best instructor. Most teachers will have web sites now that will boast their credentials, (e.g., Masters Degree in Music Education). There you will find the qualifications they acquire in order to train. If they do not have credentials listed on their site, use their contact information to inquire directly.  Reputable teachers always list their training and highest level of education to show themselves qualified to teach and brag their reputation.

Visit web sites of the trainers closest to your place and utilize their contact information. Send a preliminary e-mail to the teacher informing them of your interest in taking lessons with them. They will ask a few questions on what types of things you are searching for in an instructor, so it is best to know that ahead of time. You may then set up a meeting time or move on to the next instructor on your list if some do not meet your requirements. If you are interested, using their contact information to set up a face-to-face meeting along with a tour of their service is the best way to understand about the school of your choice.

Setting up a meeting with the instructor of your choice can better replicate teaching style and further help in the search for the best guitar instructor. Facility, qualifications, location, and fee of the courses are the biggest factors that should be used in finding an teacher once the style of music has been reduced down and a school has been chosen.

How do you replace the first string on a guitar?

I tried to replace the strings on my daughter’s guitar. I didn’t have any luck at all. I went to about.com/library guitar tutorial and the directions said to put the ball end of the string in the hole near the bridge. The guitar doesn’t have a hole near the bridge. I’m new at this and don’t understand the instructions. Any advice would be well appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

P.S.
When I look at the other strings I don’t even see the ball part of the string to indicate how to insert the string.

Getting Started With Heavy Metal Guitar

Heavy metal has quite possibly caused more adolescents to try the electric guitar than any other variety of music. The fantastic thing about heavy metal guitar is that almost immeaditely beginners can make some music that sounds roughly like one of their much lovedriffs and with this accomplishment comes a feeling of coolness and a readiness to explore further elements of the genre and finally the itself.

But heavy metal can’t be thought of as a frivolous type of music, loads of excellent guitarists have pushed the envelope of the genre and indeed, the guitar itself with experimentation with and adaption of all forms of music from A prospective young musician motivated by the heavy metal star of the day will most probably be introduced to at various times to players and composers across the entire musical spectrum, with heavy metal guitar drawing on influences from such varied names as J.S. Bach, Wes Montgomery, Muddy Waters, the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.

The novice Heavy Metal player must begin by getting a sound foundation by learning the blues (which Heavy Metal guitar in its most basic form relies upon big time), particular attention should be given to the blues and minor pentatonic scales in addition to learning staple blues progressions.

Once these fundamentals are learned, the heavy metal
guitar player has a huge assortment of influences to refer to and should be concentrating on refining technique and ear training before experimenting with flash tricks and effects. Its the basics done right that makes awesome players, the flash and pizzazz are great to add sparkle to a guitar player’s overall repertoire but they aren’t worth anything unless the guitarist canplay the entire piece with good technique, educated ears and precision timing.

There are some cool resources available for people wanting to master Heavy Metal Guitar, I have found this great package put together by Phil Wheatley which is aimed at getting people to play and have fun. It costs under than twenty dollars (which is my fee for one guitar lesson). It contains a sixty seven page eBook, 13 Videos and some worksheets. Some other options are available at six string wizard

Simply Guitar ~ The Basics ~ Episode 1

Simply Guitar ~ The Basics ~ Episode 1 Episode 1 (watch in 480 or 780p) covers the basics of the guitar; tuning, breakdown of the guitar itself, use of picks, string details, how it all works, etc.. This video is for absolute beginners. This is the first in the series that will evolve from the very beginning to advanced in a slow methodical pace. I will take you from learning to strum, the chords, and other basics to eventually being able to play along with virtually any song you want and much more. (yeah, I know, I’m from Texas)

Misa Digital Guitar

Who ever thought that there would be something as innovative as the Misa Digital Guitar. Perhaps you are thinking about something like the Japanese digital guitar where you can strum and fret notes like normal. Misa’s is way different than your regular guitar. It has the familiar neck and body that we know of. But instead of frets, you would have buttons that act as the notes that we fret on the neck of the guitar. This lets you use less effort when it comes to fretting notes and chords on the digital guitar.

The body looks like your regular guitar. But instead of a sound hole, you have an LCD panel in place. The LCD panel would have an X and Y axis that you program to produce the effect that you desire. This is operated by touch and pressure. Pretty neat for a guitar huh? These effects can be programmed by plugging your guitar to a computer. You can also download stuff into it. It makes use of a Linux operating system. The idea here is more on controlling the sounds and not strumming the chords.

The Misa digital guitar may be applicable to the trance artists. It also is something to use to put notes into your sequencer. This is a good instrument that fuses guitar style and as well as midi automation. The digital guitar gets rid of the pedals that are normally required to acquire a certain effect. Of course, the neck would still have what controls the notes that would be played. Your strumming hand would control the timing and the intensity of the notes that you play.

The digital guitar cannot be compared to regular guitars. It is designed to have a very minimalist interface but with a great range of configurability. This makes the instrument simple yet effective. It is also makes use of an open source software that is powered by the Linux operating system, as mentioned earlier. This allows flexibility to modify how the instrument works. Programmers can even change the interface allowing the provision for specific functionality. This is great for those who would like to collaborate with other users and are interested in experimenting and innovating.
