Can someone please tell me why there are English subtitles when the guy in the video is already speaking English? I guess a simple answer is that they’re for deaf people. But if someone was deaf, I seriously doubt they’d be playing a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

He’s obviously got it tuned differently; in 4ths all the way up (bass players do this).

  • ShittakeBukakke says:

Who the hell is this shmo? And what’s he talkin about “C and F strings”? haha

  • MusicVampire11 says:

…so what about the open strings? isn’t that technically fine notes for first position? and what the hell is a “F string”? that is an e string; good tips but i think you should follow them yourself.

  • piker2007 says:

Lol what are the notes tho?

  • Crbsee says:

    dont forget about using octaves

    Appreciate it man..

I get that…have no trouble, but it’s like being able to navigate a keyboard, takes a lot of practice and finger memory to get to where you’re just playing the note without having to find it. I am not there with most of it yet. I can play a scale without looking at the fretboard, but I feel limited.
I want to do something well in my life that matters to ME, screw the job, I got that down, and it’s not giving me the satisfaction that doing something creative does.

    he looks stoned

    that’s a good idea

I am finding patterns though. Or maybe just becoming more familiar with the fretboard. And my left hand is turning into a calloused claw. I don’t care if its not feminine.

  • twixcookie says:

I think if someone wants to teach guitar, after they get thru explaining what the nut and the bridge are, they need to explain the open strings and how they relate to the piano. You can see more with music on a piano and translate to a guitar.

  • twixcookie says:

    Ha, good one!

  • twixcookie says:

    I am a beginner,and even I know there is no C string.
I can’t learn off these videos. I take classes, which helps, but I think if one wants to get “good”, one has to do a lot of learning by themselves, besides practice. I’ve had to really force myself to learn, even when I am tired and have worked 100 hours a week.
This is something I want to do. I don’t want to imitate anyone or “play Clapton” or any of that.Play guitar like I draw, it’s me, it is what comes out of me, off top of my head.

  • varulv234 says:

Who told you that? Then practically nobody can play.

  • varulv234 says:

Yeah, you really gotta work on that C-stringXD

  • Em1nenceFr0nt says:

upyourface, I bet you never thought you’d hear this BUT I AGREE….

Sit your ass down, memorize the notes. There’s only 6 strings, and 12 notes. A few of them have an identity crisis from time to time, and think they’re sharp instead of flat, but they’re still good notes….

It is helpful if you start on Sunday, with C, and find every “C” on the guitar..Then Monday do “D”, etc.

  • rocknrolldaddio says:

DID I HEAR HIM SAY,”C” STRING?
