could you teach since you been gone by kelly clarkson?

longtalker, don’t hit the strings to make percussion. bump the body of the guitar above the strings in between your strumming like he shows.

  • CptTrips007 says:

He’s not just hitting the strings, hes’ hitting the body a small as well which gives it a sharp “hit.”

Thanks! Also, forgot to mention I’m using a classical guitar.. I know most of the stuff he teaches is predestined for acoustic but for the moment it just seems much simpler for me to play on the wide neck of a classical guitar.

This force be the reason why it’s so hard for me to get the percussive sound he’s demonstrating in this video. I expect this to be simpler when I go on to steel strings.

  • jjguitar22 says:

its not so much a force thing. its a hard thing to get used to. mainly just try to cover all the strings you hit. like he said, it sounds like a chop but youre not trying to break it or anything. it just takes time haha

  • pyrincess54 says:

    thank u sir..

I’m loving the HD. Looking and sounding awesome.

  • longtalker says:

That rhythm sounds terrific from you but I somehow just cannot get the same percussive sound out of my guitar… I smack the strings just as you demonstrated, but it doesn’t sound anywhere near as strong. Is it not hurtful to the strings if you hit them too hard (to the point where they nearly touch the body of the guitar)?
