Okay, so I was just messing around with an ancient guitar and some You Tube tutorials, and I’m super confused. When it tells me to hold the fret, am I holding the actual STRINGS where the fret IS, or am I just holding th fret board? I am so confused. Any help is appreciated!! Also, if you have any websites with excellent teaching, that’d be cool

I have never even held a guitar before in my life (except for guitar hero and rock band) and want to know if there are any online tutorials that would give reasons for how to play guitar, step-by-step, for the complete beginner. Just post a link, thank you.

My small brother wants to start guitar lessons and has the choice to learn either acoustic or electric. I reckon that acoustic would be better for someone who’s new to playing guitar but then again I’ve never played that instrument. He, but would like the electric guitar. So, for anyone with some guitar encounter, which do you reckon is more suited for a beginner, electric or acoustic?

It helps to enhance your ability to recognize tones. PRACTICE The more time you spend involved with your guitar, the quicker you will go up and advance. If you can’t play it right, don’t give up! Just keep involved and eventually you will increase. Once you are comfortable playing your practice song, you can start picking another song to learn.
