Can 2 people (one with an electric guitar & one with a acoustic guitar) take guitar lessons at the same time?

My Grandma and I want to take guitar lessons together (eaisier for transportation) but she has an acoustic guitar and I have an electric.

Should a beginner take ACOUSTIC guitar lessons or ELECTRIC guitar lessons?

My small brother wants to start guitar lessons and has the choice to learn either acoustic or electric. I reckon that acoustic would be better for someone who’s new to playing guitar but then again I’ve never played that instrument. He, but would like the electric guitar.
